V1240 Guy Laroche Vogue Paris Original: the lining - O forro do vestido Guy Laroche

EN Summary: The dress is coming along quite nicely and today I managed to sew the lining and attach it to the dress. Keep reading for all the details.

EN: The lining is constructed as the inner dress, but reversed (imagine yourself with the lining on, the wrong side of the lining should be out and the right side against the body). The seam below the zipper opening should also be stitched, and side seams should be pressed open. I finished the lining SAs with the 2-thread overedge stitch, I find it ideal for the lining as-well. Next the lining is stitched to the dress along the armholes; the lining and the dress are pinned together, right sides facing, and machine-stitched:

EN: For bulk reduction, the armhole seam allowances must be graded, and since they are outward curves, also clipped:
---
EN: The next step is under-stitching the armholes to help with the turn of the cloth favoring the right side of the edge. I stitch very near the seam along the lining; the seam allowances are towards the lining, being caught by this row of stitching. I prefer using a thread color matching the lining color but I didn't have it at home so I settled with the same color as the fashion fabric.
---
EN: After turning the lining to the inside of the dress, I lightly press along the edges, making sure the dress side is favored along the edge:
---
EN: After a last row of hand-basting along the neckline edges, and fell-stitching the lining to the zipper tape, the dress is ready for collar assembling! I'm looking forward to the finished dress, are you with me? :D
---
